Introducing the Jumbie Jam C-20 lead / tenor steel pan

From the manufacturers of the extremely popular Jumbie Jam series in the USA, the C-20 lead / tenor pan combines advanced building technology with handcrafted tradition. The result is a consistent, stable instrument with an impressively full tone. Suitable for music making at all levels, this pan is a great option for beginners, Jumbie Jam graduates or as a practice or backup pan for advanced players.

The C-20 has a matt black surface which provides a striking aesthetic whilst also making it easy to play in bright lighting conditions with its non-glare characteristics.

The pan has a textured skirt, and is supplied with a black powder-coated Z-style stand which is fully adjustable from 30cm to 99cm. Completing the package is a pair of black and silver anodized mallets, with soft rubber ends to avoid damaging and de-tuning the pan.

20-note chromatic range – the perfect education pan

This pan has a chromatic range covering 20 notes from C4 to G5, and the notes are clearly labelled to aid learning and remove the daunting challenges posed by unmarked steel pans. The highest 5 notes on a traditional lead pan are somewhat rarely used as they struggle to produce a clean sound. Reducing the range to 20 notes creates additional space to design, shape and position the notes for bell-clear tone and more accurate tuning across the instrument. It also makes teaching and learning easier, as the layout is simpler to navigate.

Steel pans in the classroom – making life easier for teachers!

Steel pans are a 'low barrier to entry musical instrument' and have been used in music classrooms for over 50 years, with particular growth in the 21st century. They are one of the most effective tools to teach musical fundamentals to students of all ages and ability levels in large groups, due to the clearly labelled notes, and the ease with which students can get a great sound from them. Students are inspired to play these spirited and fascinating instruments, aided by their sleek, minimalist look. Both the 'caribbean night' and 'high gloss silver' designs are incredibly smart and suit the precision of the steel pan perfectly.

Premium versatility for education

Acquiring pans has always been difficult and expensive, with lengthy lead times adding to the challenge. The C-20 pan is an ideal solution to these issues, allowing you to expand your ensemble in the smoothest way possible! If you already use Jumbie Jams in your school, then adding the C-20 is a simple and affordable way to progress the most talented students. Not only will the combination of pans make for a better whole class ensemble experience, but the inspiration to move on to the bigger pan will drive students to master the Jumbie providing the springboard to a lifetime of steel pan playing!
